I Misstress sono una Horror Punk-Glam band polacca partorita durante la notte di Valpurga 2011 dalla mente di Andy Schoeneich. Nel 2011 esordiscono nel panorama discografico con l’album “Vampire’s dirty pleasures” e nel 2012 con l’EP “Demons and freaks”. Nel 2013 sono l’unica band europea ad apparire nella famosa compilation “MeGa Con 13” pubblicata da Artist Entertainment. Nel 2015 la band si scioglie e diventa una vera e propria band di culto nell’est europeo. Torna in attività nel 2020 e pubblica con Blasphemous Records “Resurrected”, un album sporco, grezzo, festaiolo e dai Party Riffing Horror, con tematiche horror e vampiresche al quale partecipano musicisti molto conosciuti in ambito metal nell’Est Europa.

Hello. “Resurrected” like the resurrection of the Misstress after the disbandement of the group in 2015? So why did you break up six years ago and how did you decide on your reunion?
Ciao. “Resurrection” come la resurrezione dei Mistress dopo lo scioglimento del 2015? Perché dunque lo scioglimento sei anni fa e come avete deciso la vostra reunion?

Hell(o). Misstress was not disbanded. We just suspended our activity, everyone had a lot of different things on their mind, often it was just the prose of life. We were also a bit tired. It was high time to come back. Paradoxically, the pandemic lockdown turned out to be an excellent time to record the material calmly 😀

What happened during the five years without Misstress? Were there other solo projects and collaborations, other musical projects under other names?
Cosa è successo nei sei anni senza Misstress? Ci sono stati altri progetti solisti e collaborazioni, altri progetti musicali sotto altri nomi?

Rest and then all that is what you say. All of us can’t live without playing for too long, so we’ve all been doing something on the side, solo recordings, participating in other bands, some guest performances, you know, all that shit when you can’t sit on your butt, but you know it anyway. It’s not exactly THIS.
Riposo e poi tutto quello che dici. Tutti noi non possiamo vivere senza suonare per troppo tempo, quindi abbiamo tutti fatto qualcosa a lato, registrazioni da solisti, partecipazioni in altre band, alcune esibizioni come ospiti, sai, tutta quella roba di quando non puoi startene con le mani in mano, ma comuqnue lo sai. Non è esattamente QUESTO.

Could you introduce us to the numerous guest stars who have participated in your work?
Ci presentate i numerosi ospiti o guest stars che hanno partecipato a questo vostro lavoro?
Misstress
Chris Cyanide, our friend from the USA – crazy bass player who does it on six and eight string monsters. Jacek Osuch – an excellent musician from Vienna, buddy with whom we (me and Tomek – the drummer) had the pleasure to play together hundreds of years ago in a historic heavy metal band. Zbigniew Prylewski – an excellent bass player who works in many musical projects, including the only Polish KISS cover band. I once played live with them as a guest – fucking fun. Gerard Chodyra – great bassman, great experience, many bands. Gere recorded the bass parts for half of the material on the album. Girls: Marietta Balcerzak, Maksymina Kuzianik i Klaudia Urbanowicz – fantastic voices, they have their own bands that they perform with. And finally, a guy who’s hard to say his share was as a guest: Bartłomiej Świderek. It is a tragic story, Bartek passed away at the age of 27. He is Misstress’s first drummer, we used his drum tracks, recorded back in 2012. R.I.P.

E infine, un ragazzo a cui è difficile dire che è stato ospite: Bartłomiej Świderek. È una storia tragica, Bartek è morto all’età di 27 anni. Perché attingete all’immaginario horror o infernale o del male? Che cosa significa per voi? Perché in particolare i vampiri? Quale messaggio o divertimento o catarsi attraverso di esso?

(LOL) 😀 😀 😀 Seriously? OK, I love horror stories, horror movies, novels. This mood, gothic, mystery, painterly… All this allows you to get away from dull and boring reality, from mundane and realistic matters. You are a child again and you are having a great time. Why vampires? And who the fuck doesn’t want to live forever? 😀 😀 😀 It’s just having fun, moving into the world of mysterious fairy tales.

Questo stato d’animo, gotico, misterioso, pittorico… Tutto questo ti permette di allontanarti dalla realtà opaca e noiosa, dalle questioni banali e realistiche. Sei di nuovo un bambino e ti stai divertendo molto. Perché i vampiri? E chi cazzo non vuole vivere per sempre? :D: D 😀 È solo divertirsi, entrare nel mondo delle favole misteriose.

A lot… KISS, Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, The Sweet, T.Rex, W.A.S.P., Hanoi Rocks, Michael Monroe, Wednesday 13, Murderdolls, The 69 Eyes, Death SS, Lordi, Misfits, L.A. Guns. But also Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Yes (yes, Yes), Elvis, Little Richard, Screaming Lord Sutch. And Mercyful Fate, Cradle of Filth and Slayer too.

For a music like yours and for rock or rock’n’roll in general it is essential to play live, to have a relationship from a stage with the public. I think it’s the very essence of any form of rock or metal music. I suppose there have also been restrictions on this in your country because of the pandemic. How did you live the last year from this point of view and what do you miss most of this contact that has failed for so long?
Per una musica come la vostra e per il rock o il rock’n’roll in generale è fondamentale suonare dal vivo, avere un rapporto da un palco con il pubblico. Credo sia l’essenza stessa di ogni forma di musica rock, metal eccetera. Suppongo che anche da voi ci siano state restrizioni al riguardo per via della pandemia. Come avete vissuto l’ultimo anno da questo punto di vista e cosa più vi manca di questo contatto venuto a mancare così a lungo?

Of course you are absolutely right. Rock music is about stage and concerts. This is the essence of all this mess 🙂 But, believe me, it’s possible to survive in lockdown when it’s necessary. This fucking pandemic is no joke, and it’s better to grit your teeth for a while than to put everyone around you, including your loved ones, in danger. Only morons can’t cope with temporary isolation. But they’re just too blunt to feel good in their own company 😀
Ovviamente hai assolutamente ragione. La musica rock riguarda il palcoscenico e i concerti. Questa è l’essenza di tutto questo casino 🙂 Ma, credimi, è possibile sopravvivere in isolamento quando è necessario. Questa fottuta pandemia non è uno scherzo, ed è meglio stringere i denti per un po’ che mettere in pericolo tutti quelli che ti circondano, compresi i tuoi cari. Solo i deficienti non possono far fronte all’isolamento temporaneo. Ma sono troppo ottusi per sentirsi bene in compagnia con se stessi 😀

Personally I only know a few old singers and bands from Poland like Obywatel G.C., Varius Manxx, Mira Kubasińska & Breakout… Or Behemoth… Unfortunately in Italy the music from Poland and Eastern Europe does not arrive. How is the current music scene in Poland? Are there other bands, artists and scenes in particular to recommend to the Italian public?
Io sono fermo a pochi cantanti e gruppi come Obywatel G.C., Varius Manxx, Mira Kubasińska & Breakout… O i Behemoth… Purtroppo in Italia non gira la musica che viene dalla Polonia e dall’est europeo. Com’è il panorama musicale attuale in Polonia? Ci sono altre band e scene in particolare da consigliare al pubblico italiano?

Well, I can’t help you here, I just don’t listen to Polish music and don’t follow what is happening on this market. I can only say what Polish bands I consider to be good, and these are not “new” but solid brands that have been around for years: Oddział Zamknięty, Lady Pank, Turbo, TSA, Mech, Vincent and mentioned by you Behemoth. For the rest, and especially for the new ones, let us lower the veil of silence…
Beh, non posso aiutarti qui, semplicemente non ascolto musica polacca e non seguo quello che sta succedendo su questo mercato. Posso solo dire quali band polacche considero buone, e queste non sono “nuove” ma solidi marchi che esistono da anni: Oddział Zamknięty, Lady Pank, Turbo, TSA, Mech, Vincent e i da te citati Behemoth.
